We have received the full range of Ripe Vapes products, a brand that doesn’t need any presentations: the Californian company is in the world of vaping since late 2013 and is now one of the best-known and world-renowned names. Ripe Vapes will now join the extensive archive of The Flavourist!
I admit, it wasn’t easy to choose the product to start with, as Ripe Vapes are all widely known and appreciated, so I opted for the most singular and more “complicated” creation: Coconut Thai.
Before starting to approach Coconut Thai, let’s take a quick look at the bottle. It’s a classic 30 ml transparent glass bottle, with childproof cap and a medium sized beak glass dropper. The label, very pleasing to the touch for its satin effect, has a very nice and elegant rustic style. I do not dwell on the information on the label, but I want to inform you that, in accordance to the european TPD, Ripe Vapes e-liquids are currently sell in Italy in the classic Mix Series 50 ml + 10 ml nicotine booster, that will get 60 ml of final product with different levels of nicotine.

Let’s start with a closer look at Coconut Thai, obviously starting from its official description:
This juice was inspired by the exotic flavors from the distant shores of Thailand. The first flavor is that of the smooth coconut, rich and slightly sweet followed by after notes of fresh thai basil and bright lemongrass.
Lemon grass ??? Yes, you read it right, lemon grass. Absurd though it might sound, especially for Europeans, lemon grass, a native grass of India, is widely used in the traditional cuisine of different countries, from Thailand to Vietnam, passing through Indonesia and Malaysia. You will easily discover that its intense but at the same time delicate lemon-scented aroma combines perfectly with many ingredients of Asian culinary art, including coconut milk.
On the nose Coconut Thai immediately reveals an intense and penetrating lemon grass citrus aroma that dominates the scene, whilst allowing some traces of plant and earthy notes emerging in the background with a light aromatic spiciness. Following the vigorous lemon grass accents, after several breathings, it seems that a sweet and creamy base peeps in the background. New atypical and absolutely unfamiliar aromatics hints push me to the immediate vape test.
The stimulating indications collected by the olfactory test are strengthened when I start to vape Coconut Thai. The vape test returns certainties and confirmations on an unusual but highly intriguing product. The notes of lemon grass, prevalent on the nose, merge and attenuate on vaping; a sophisticated balance is created that results in a well-balanced, polyhedric creation and of course with fresh and exotic tones and scents.
The aromatic structure is built on an orderly interweave of ingredients, perfectly combined and in the right proportions. Everything is in its place. On the inhale a soft and pleasant coconut milk lovingly embraces the taste buds for short moments. Soon this absolute softness is enriched, in the heart of the vape, by the vigorous and aromatic notes of lemon grass, creating a typically combination of Oriental flavors. But the citrus hints are not the only ones blending with the coconut milk; A series of slow and deep puffs reveal thin spicy veils with a minimal but marked anise background. It is the aromatic charm of the fresh and green notes of the scented Thai basil. These accents are too small to be easily identified, but equally characterizing to be unnoticed. Lemon grass is not alone.
The exhale phase is also rich, intense and stimulating. The palate is wrapped up in a fresh sweet background, underneath the aromatic notes of lemon grass and basil. The coconut milk, evident in inspiration, comes alongside with a new aromatic perception: the scent of a hot rice cup, just served at the table, peeps into the after-vaping aromatic persistence. It confers further softness and sweetness to this thai mix, containing as much as possible the penetrating flavor of lemon grass. Everything is perfectly calibrated.
Great sense of the natural product, a never experienced taste, aromas and flavors that the western culture knows little of and often struggles to understand. Exotic scents that, by combining ingredients and oriental spices with their unique properties, stimulate the sensory perceptions at the highest levels.
Pro: Flavors and aromas never experienced before: a dive into scented Oriental spices …
Cons: The stimulating exotic combinations, in the long run, does not suite the western – vaping – culture.
