In 2018, for many Italian vaper the summer was enlivened by the aromatic notes of a liquid manufactured by Tornado Juice, the Lemon Ice Tea, also awarded by The Flavourist as “Best Italian All Day E-juice” at the International Vape E- liquid Award 2017.
This year Tornado Juice is back and for the 2019 summer it proposes a new e-liquid that refers to a famous drink/dessert that undoubtedly fills the Italian summer days: the cold coffee cream. Don’t tell me you’ve never noticed that from May it’s inevitable to find a cold coffee cream in all the italian café for several months until the end of the summer.
So here I am ready to tell you about Coffee Cream by Tornado Juice:
Una crema tutta italiana, amata da tutti e a tutte le età. Il gusto intenso del caffè, reso dolce denso e cremoso, questo e molto altro è coffee cream.
An all-Italian cream, loved by everyone and for all ages. The intense taste of coffee, made sweet and thick and creamy, this and much more is coffee cream.
Coffee Cream is sold inside a cardboard tube that houses a 60ml unicorn bottle, filled with 20ml of concentrated aroma, to which add 40ml of vegetable glycerine possibly (if you desire with nicotine). The final liquid composition will be approximately 65/35 VG/PG. The very lively and colorful label shows all the main info of the product, from the lot number, to the expiration date, passing through the quantity of flavor (propylene glycol), up to the main manufacturer info. In short, everything required by current legislation.
The fragrance that comes out of the bottle has a good aromatic charge and its scents oscillate between the familiarity of a pleasant coffee cream and the more acidulous tones of a classic “Starbucks coffee”. The aromatic picture is certainly pleasant and appears framed by clear and sweet creamy veils, which help to give the idea of a tasty cold coffee cream quite well. Inside the creamy mantle it seems to me to perceive sweet vanilla nuances, as an integral part of the cream ingredient of the recipe.
I am going to start the vape test ready to find out if the smell test will be confirmed or completely distorted. Coffee Cream will be tested on the ever-green and aromatic Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA.
All the italian manufacturers who decide to try creating a coffee-based e-liquid, know that they run a high risk, a lot higher than any other global manufacturer. The reasons are easy to understand: in Italy there is and you drink “espresso coffee”, and proposing it as a liquid is not an easy task. There is a big difference between sipping an espresso for a few seconds and vaping it for a few hours. In this sense, however, a recipe that provides the important contribution of a creamy component, can only go to the aid of the manufacturer.
When I begin to vape Coffee Cream, I realize that I am experiencing an aromatic taste I have already tried in the past, when I often came across e-liquids that promised to taste like real coffee, and instead turned out to show up in the vast majority of cases of creamy recipes with the imprinting of the typical Starbucks coffee.
In Coffee Cream a fair roast inaugurates the puff, the hints of coffee emerge well in inspiration, even if they seem a little held back by light acidulous infiltrations that seem to characterize the whole creamy apparatus of the recipe.
However, the creamy component shines with softness and roundness and acquires greater importance in the heart of the puff where, along with the notes of coffee, the entire aromatic structure of this bouquet is packaged. There are several ways to synthesize a creamy effect inside an e-liquid. Tornado Juice chooses a tested and safe path and delegates the task of simulating and emulating on the taste buds the creamy density to a mix of vanilla shades, light caramelized glazes and a base of whipped cream.
Although the sensations on the palate are absolutely pleasing and refined, unfortunately in my opinion the combination of Coffe Cream and a real cold coffee cream is a bit forced, both because in Coffee Cream the “ice” ingredient is missing, both because the creamy framework presents small aromatic deviations which reduce the degree of fidelity to a real coffee cream.
Even with these limitations, Coffe Cream is according to The Flavourist an optimally balanced e-liquid with ingredients that are always offered with the right intensity, dosed and calibrated with fine art to make this e-liquid a very good all day for summer.
Suggested dilution: About 30% = add 40 ml of vegetable glycerine base inside the bottle containing the aroma.
Steeping time: Ready to vape.
Pro: A soft and round coffee creamy suitable for long vape sessions.
Cons: The absence of the ice component makes it less faithful than due to a real cold coffee cream.
