Leaving aside the opinions of each of us on this type of device, one thing is certain: from now on these systems will always be more effective and efficient and will allow millions of people around the world to stop smoking more easily.

This is why our team has decided for some time now, not to miss out on the blog, a considerable number of reviews of this type of devices.

Today, for example, we are dealing with the pod mod DV manufactured by Innokin an historic company which, since 2011, has been operating on the electronic cigarette market, as one of the world leaders in the vaping sector.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY

This mod pod designed and manufactured by Innokin presents a futuristic design with the appearance of a spaceship (remotely also remembers a PC mouse); probably the most atypical pod mod currently on the market. The appreciation for its hexagonal shape and its decidedly new lines is, never as in this case, a purely subjective fact. We can only note the pleasantness to the touch and its extreme solidity (zinc alloy material), for a build quality that is in our opinion more than good and above the market average. In your hand you have the feeling of having a sturdy and durable kit.

FEATURES

The DV is a pod mod has an hexagonal shape (as mentioned above) with the following dimensions: length about 74 mm, maximum width of about 43 mm, thickness at the base of 16 mm and a total weight of 64 gr (not a little for this type of e-cig). Innokin has equipped this kit with a 500 mAh battery that can be recharged very quickly in about 30 minutes with micro USB cable. The pod supplied has a capacity of 2.8 ml in the standard version, 2.0 ml for the TPD version. Inside the pod, is housed a latest-generation 3D mesh coil produced by Innokin, the Plex 3D coil.

This device can work both with automatic firing and with the activation key (in the latter case the firing has a greater initial thrust than in the automatic mode). The pod mod is switched on and off with 3 clicks on the central button in rapid sequence. The wattage levels to choose from are four: 12 – 13 – 14 and 15 watts, selectable by the thin side button on the right of the “DV” name on the device surface. The central fire button during delivery lights up with three possible different colors based on the remaining battery charge level (low red level, medium orange level, high green level). In our opinion, however, the choice of orange instead of the blue color (the most common choice used on these kind of devices), makes information on the residual battery level less immediate, especially for those who have some difficulty in the distinction of similar colors.

COILING, WICKING AND FILLING

Also for the DV as for the vast majority of the mod pods on the market, the pod removal and liquid refill operations are really very simple. The Pod can be pulled out simply by pulling it towards you and to refill the liquid inside it, it will be enough to turn it upside down, lift the silicone tab on one side, and proceed with filling the e-liquid. The filling slot is wide enough to receive different types of bottle spouts. Finally, the semi-smoked transparency of the pod also allows an easy control of the liquid level.

PERFORMANCES AND FLAVOUR

Innokin’s DV has a non-adjustable puff but is rather well calibrated; it is a slightly airy puff with a good hit even at the minimum power of 12 watts. From the aromatic point of view, the performance of the pod and in this case of the Plex 3D coils are more than satisfactory and in our opinion, above the average of the most known pod mods in circulation.

Too bad, however, that in our opinion this device suffers from two problems that are not negligible. The final judgment we gave to the product is in fact affected, as was right and proper, of these two flaws that undermine the excellent aromatic performance of the kit.

The first problem encountered is related to the 500 mAh battery which is not able to adequately support the functions of the device. Starting to vape with a fully charged battery you probably can’t finish 2 ml of e-liquid even with output power set to 12 watts.

The second problem we noticed on the DV (a problem that is also typical and common in many of these devices) is the formation of excessive e-liquid condensation below the cartridge that is poured onto the surface of the mod.

TO CONCLUDE

Innokin DV is a pod mod with a very particular and innovative design, with excellent aromatic performances but also with some obvious problems that the manufacturer should solve, should he wish to market version 2 of this pod system in the future. Unfortunately at the moment we do not consider this device up to its most competitive competitors on the market.
