Today I’m going to talk to you about Five Pawns, Always a synonym of excellence in the vaping sector. The Californian manufacturer has accustomed us over the years, not only for high quality productions, but also and above all to for a series of highly innovative creations. We saw it with the “Blue” line, reviewed by our team at the end of 2018 and with two e-liquids stand out at the International Vape E-liquid Award organized by The Flavourist. For those who were not aware of it, I’m talking about Magnus and Lasker’s Rule, respectively awarded as Best Pastry E-juice and Best Creative Recipe of 2018.

Now the “blue” gives way to “red” and from today I will start to take care of the “Red” line of the American manufacturer: Elo Tobacco, Kingside Tobacco, Royal Tobacco, Brevity, Isolani and Kibitzer, are the six liquids that make up this line.

Before opening the dance with Elo Tobacco, I remind you that although the manufacturer sent us these products in the “ready to vape” version, in Italy the new Five Pawns are marketed in the aroma shot series format (20 ml of aroma concentrate to which another 40 ml should be added between vegetable glycerine and if you want a nicotine boost).

Looking at the packaging, we have already had the opportunity to weave the praises on several occasions, since it is something extremely sober, cared, elegant and above all complete from the point of view of information for the vaper. Chapeau!

Five Pawns provides the following description of Elo Tobacco:

Inspired from the tastes of the Brazilian tobacco leaf, Elo Tobacco contains hints of citrus accompanying rich, smooth, earthy, and naturally sweet tobacco flavors.

It is our duty to remind our readers that, according to the classification of our team, we are in the presence of a “classic” tobacco e-liquid, that is realized without using a natural tobacco extract. It is well known that here in Italy there is a rather flourishing market of tobacco e-liquid extracts, and therefore it seemed very important to underline the substantial difference between the two types of tobacco products.

SMELL TEST

Without the right premises, I can concentrate on the tasting of Elo Tobacco, not without first having tested its characteristics on the smell. The opening of the bottle immediately releases hints that appear in line with the official description of the product. The first thing that I perceive is the decidedly dry and pungent background to which are added citrus notes that increase the perception of Elo Tobacco as a clean ttobacco e-liquid with no frills and almost Spartan. The aromatic base has a clear imprint of dried fruit or at least it shares some molecular characteristics, and there does not seem to be any space for sweetness and roundness within this formulation. Will it be like that during the vape test?

The atomizer chosen for the vape test is the Ares MTL RTA produced by the Innokin company and designed by the well-known youtuber Phil Busardo.

VAPE TEST

During the vaporization the Elo Tobacco scenario appears less dry than perceived on the smell. The e-liquid is already shown by the elegantly balanced inhalation phase and, although its background is based on a dry and woody tobacco base, the sensation that pervades my palate is that of a product very well harmonized between tobacco and fruity components. Elo Tobacco glides delicately on the palate, showing its noble features thanks to an excellent aromatic association between the citrus and light touches of honey, which sweeten the whole aromatic structure with a natural approach.

If the top notes privilege the woody nuances of a clean and linear tobacco, the heart notes are therefore sweeter, because in this phase the nuances of honey make their way. It is here that the work of the Five Pawns flavorists is masterly, in the subtle link created between the honey ingredient and the outcropping notes of lemon most perceptible in the puff tail.

The overall aromatic picture that comes out is more tasty than ever. Elo Tobacco is a sunny and elegant tobacco, the aromatic load is always perfectly balanced, ideal ground for the exaltation of that sense of naturalness that as always Five Pawns manages to instill every time brings to market a new product.

The puffs convey to my mind the pleasant scenery of a warm Caribbean atmosphere, and although the e-liquid has absolute characteristics of an ADV e-juice, I imagine it very well during the hot summer months, notoriously dealt with e-liquid more light and delicate.

Of course, as we said at the beginning, this is a classic tobacco that can not stand comparison with any “extract” tabaccoso, especially for those who have long accustomed to vaping this kind of e-liquid, but it is also undeniable whether it is a qualitatively excellent and very pleasant recipe.

Pro: Refined classic tobacco e-juice very suitable for lovers of e-liquids not too heavy and not too sweet.

Cons: Not comparable in terms of loyalty to an “extracted” tobacco e-juice.
