Among the many new products seen and smell during the Vapitaly 2018, today we picked up a product from a really super-colored line designed by one of the biggest Canadian manufacturers: PGVG Labs.

Already present at the Vapitaly 2017, but with a rather limited e-liquid proposal, the Montreal company pushed out the boat this year showing in Verona a wide and varied offer. Among the different brands presented by PGVG Labs during the three days in Verona, we have been impressed by the liveliness of the Pikasso Vapors collection.

The Pikasso Vapors range consists of three e-liquids: Gâto, Kawabunga and Bucano.

The choice for the first review of this line fell on Gâto:

Our Gâto tastes like decadent fantasy freshly out of the oven. Tender and soft, it is topped with a vanilla coulis, whose recipe remains a secret.

Inside a colorful cardboard box there is a 60ml unicorn bottle, filled with 18 ml of concentrated flavor, to which  42 ml of vegetable glycerine must be added and, if you want, nicotine. The final e-liquid composition will be exactly 70/30 VG/PG. The label is made with a superb satin effect that brings out a minimal and contemporary style. All the key info about the product, from the batch number, to the date of manufacture, through the amount of flavor (propylene glycol), up to the details of the manufacturer is shown.

The olfactory scene is literally dominated by an intense and rich scent of vanilla cream, decisive, penetrating and sometimes pungent, perhaps also due to the presence of a light alcoholic background. However, the vanilla substrate is not the only one that emergea from the Gâto bottle; my nose is tickled by a fine almond note that enriches the custard. The aromatic intensity is high, the sweetness pronounced but not over-dosed.

Now we just have to vape it…

From the first puffs it won’t be difficult to discover that among the secret ingredients present in this vanilla cream, certainly there is a handful of almonds. During the inhale, in fact, delicate almond nuances can be enjoyed accompanied by the excellent aromatic notes of the custard. The mix between these two ingredients appears cleverly constructed and optimally balanced. Almonds and vanilla blend but do not cross over and the gently sweet tone of the bouquet seals the harmony of the recipe.

to use the words of the manufacturer, this vanilla coulis is really voluptuous, in my opinion one of the best ever tasted! Exactly, and the main reason is that this custard is actually much more complex than one can perceive with a few initial puffs. Hidden but not irrelevant features slowly emerge at thorough tasting. In the heart of the puff and especially on the exhale, a light toasted sensation brings to surface hints of pistachio that are added to the creamy menu, probably garnished even with a minimum dose of milk. However, I say it clear, the custard is the main ingredient of the recipe, so round, natural, with hints of egg admirably managed by the right amount of sweetening and almond notes.

In my point of view, the only flaw of this e-liquid is the total absence of aromatic references that can recall a cake, or something freshly baked. It would have been enough not to indicate it in the official description provided by the manufacturer.

Ultimately, Gâto is a recipe that, although not brand new, is made with great skill and is able to transfer an incredible sense of naturalness. Its palatability is at the highest levels also because we are faced with one of the most easily appreciated tastes for an all day vape; a vanilla base has always been the all-day vape par excellence.

And it is also for this reason that you never get tired of Gâto!

Suggested dilution: 30% = add 42 ml of vegetable glycerine base inside the bottle containing the aroma.

Steeping time: ready to vape.

Pro: A variation of the classic vanilla custard. Really excellent, on of the best ever tried.

Cons: If it should be a cake, the cake ingredient is missing.
