The 2020 e-liquid reviews start with a big news. Starting today, we will be dealing with the new brand Sang Real born from the collaboration between the manufacturing company Angolo della Guancia and the well-known distribution brand Svapodromo. Sang Real is a line of three flavored extracted tobacco aromas: Josephes, Joshua and Tamar. The format in which they are marketed is the classic shot format 20 + 40, 20 ml of aroma inside a 60 ml chubby gorilla bottle. 40 ml of base will be added to the aroma (at the discretion of the user, the nicotine presence) to obtain the liquid ready to vape in the recommended composition VPG 50/50. The graphics of the labels are very accurate, made in an elegant fantasy-vintage style.
For the official description of the three liquids, we rely on what is reported on the Svapodromo website, the official distributor of Sang Real line. The liquid we will test today is Josephes:
Josephes, terzo in linea di sangue. La sua discendenza forte e determinata racchiude in sé le note orientali del Samsun e quelle morbide del Virginia. Intenso ed amaro come la noce, solido come il burro che neanche i raggi del Sole possono sciogliere. Josephes è sinonimo di Tenacia.
Josephes, third in the bloodline. Its strong and determined lineage encompasses the oriental notes of Samsun and the soft ones of Virginia. Intense and bitter like walnut, solid like butter that not even the sun’s rays can melt. Josephes is synonymous with Tenacity.
On the smell a penetrating and slightly bitter scent tickles and teases my nostrils, and is flanked by a tobacco picture that is anything but bland, rather enveloping and round. Despite the presence of ingredients (those declared in the official description) certainly is not unprecedented in the world of e-liquids, Josephes’s aromatic frame has a somewhat unusual and therefore very stimulating fragrance. To the test of the nose, Jospehes is a flavored tobacco inside which, both the tobacco component and the flavoring and buttery one, always manage to be noticed in a clear way. It is like watching a theater scene in which several actors simultaneously perform and intersect with perfect rhythms and times, without anyone ever standing as the absolute protagonist.
After such a probing and convincing smell test, I expect adequate answers also from the vape test; I hope that during the vaporization, Josephes will be able to reveal the splendor of the aromatic nuances perceived by the nose. As always, I tried the e-liquid on four different atomizers before directing my choice on the qualities of Brunhilde MTL RTA by Vapefly: it seemed ideal for this kind of extracted tobacco.
During inspiration, the puff shows bold aromatic characteristics of a fresh walnut, whose taste, absolutely realistic, has its typical sweet initial inspiration followed by a subsequent bitter trail. The aromatic characteristics of walnut, in reality never as overbearing as those of other fruits, seem to be exalted within the bouquet due to the presence of the butter ingredient. The walnuts seem to have received a light brush of melted butter and acquire greater roundness, seeing moreover decidedly accentuated aromatic charge.
As in an impressive Rossinian crescendo, Josephes explodes aromatic in the heart of the puff, when a high-sounding chorus of refined tobacco voices is added to the nut-butter pairing. Lovable and vegetal timbres intersect with spicy notes, rich in medium shady hints. The tobacco voices are not the cheeky ones of the so-called dark and notoriously stronger tobaccos, yet not only do they give the mix a clear body, but in addition they are perfectly perceptible in vaping.
Virginia and the oriental Samsun are the solemn scenography in which walnut and butter are free to move, tantalizing the palate with a persuasive and exhilarating aromatic result. A dizziness of pleasure with every puff…
Starting from buttery tones and initial dried fruit, passing through the enrichment given by tobaccos in the central phases of the puff, to end up in the tail with increasingly present tobacco nuances and more woody and dry nuances. An e-liquid like Josephes so articulated and sophisticated requires wide, slow and deep puffs; it is also possible to give it a fair airiness (always obviously in a MTL vape) as long as the wattages remain moderate.
You can have a lot of fun alternating a series of closed and contrasted puffs, with slightly more airy and more powerful shots and discover the subtle but significant aromatic differences.
Even without using new ingredients for this sector, the Angolo della Guancia flavourists have managed to apply a deeply sought-after aromatic texture of excellent quality, without ever exhausting and quenching the e-liquid’s tobacco structure. It seems obvious, but too often I came across “tobacco flavored” little “tobacco” and very “flavored”…
Josephes, on the other hand, is a pure tobacco, enhanced by the refinement of the walnut-butter combination. It is intense, warm and enveloping and at the same time leaves you the pleasure of tasting something new and infinitely tasty.
Noble blood flows in Josephes …
