I don’t know how about you, but for me the sunny and energetic atmosphere of spring makes me want to vape more frequently light and less structured tobacco extracts, to be tasted delicately from the first light of dawn. What better opportunity then to try another of the four aromas of the new “Non filtrati” line by the master Azhad? In the past weeks I have already had the opportunity to talk to you about Old Times and Contrappunto, so today is the turn of Oriente.
I would like to remind that the Azhad’s ELixirs “Non filtrati” line, in contrast to the modus operandi of the main Italian companies, was created by subjecting the aromas to a long process of multiple decanting lasted about two years, instead of being filtered as usual. It is precisely through this slow process that Azhad managed to clean up its aromas from the organic waste of tobacco leaves.
This is a line that focuses on the rediscovery of ancient tobacco flavors partly lost in recent years, without unduly compromising the level of cleanliness of the liquid to be vaporized. The four aromas that make up the line are: Old Times, Contrappunto, Oriente and Gold America, all offered in 10 ml amber glass bottles to be diluted to 12% to obtain therefore, just over 83 ml of e-liquid ready for vaping. The recommended final composition is 50/50.
The very slow maturation of this liquid during the long settling brings to the surface, as in a bewitched cauldron, the smell and taste of an oriental spice souk. As never before, the two years of processing blend these Turkish and Oriental tobaccos in a blend with ancient scents.
The more experienced vapers know well that in the presence of types of light and sun cured tobaccos, such as the Orientals and the Turks, the smell test has very little reason for being as it is almost impossible to be able to grasp the typical smells and nuances of these tobaccos if not a faint herbaceous and vegetable note. So without delay, I set off towards the vape test that, for the occasion, I decided to carry out with the Ambition Mods Purity Plus atomizer and the Ares 2 by Innokin.
From the first puff I realize that I am in the presence of a sweet e-liquid that asserts itself on my palate for its delicate and very refined tones. On a background of whispered sweetness, the sinuous dance of the various tobaccos of this bouquet develops in inspiration, which the manufacturer does not reveal, but which in my opinion have the characteristics of some of the most well-known oriental tobaccos; I could venture on the probable presence of Turkish Izmir, Eastern Samsun or Macedonian Katerini just to name a few.
The scents are sweet and grassy and intersect with subtle spicy notes, caressing the palate puff after puff. In the central phases of the vaping the mixture is also filled with delicate and sinuous vegetal nuances in an ensemble of sophisticated elegance. The long settling of the aromas has the indisputable merit of reducing the sugar component of these tobaccos in a not indifferent way, letting a pinch of acidity highlight the aristocratic aromaticity of Oriente.
The Oriente aromatic structure fully embodies the spirit and movements of a young oriental girl, the Shahrazād of “One Thousand and One Nights” that bewitches, enchants and seduces the Persian King Shahriyār by telling him stories full of charm and fantasy. Oriente by Azhad has just that charm, a palette with soft and silky shades, enlivened by very slight acidity peaks that capture the taste buds with every puff. Nuances so subtle as to require a very “fine palate” and the choice of an appropriate atomizer.
Suggested dilution: 12%
Steeping time: ready to vape, recommended min 15 days
Pro: Elegant oriental blend with spicy and never excessively sweet hints
Cons: It is so subtle and sophisticated that it is not suitable for all types of palates
