Target PM30, the smallest pod system by the Vaporesso Target family
Today we deal with the smallest pod mod by Vaporesso Target family, the Target PM30, a pod system with an integrated battery capable of reaching up 30 watts. It is presumable that during this review we will find many of the characteristics already observed on the two previous models, the Target PM80 and the Target PM80 SE, but let’s go and start as usual with observing the contents of the packaging of the product received.
IN THE BOX
1 x Target PM30 battery
2 x Target PM30 Pod (3.5 ml)
2 x GTX 1.2 ohm Mesh coil
1 x GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil
1 x refill bottle (10 ml)
1 x USB type-C cable
1 x User manual
1 x Warranty card
1 x Reminder Card
DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY
The aesthetic and quality standards to which Vaporesso has accustomed us are undoubtedly quite high; also the Target PM30 confirms these standards, albeit with an unexpected constructive imperfection. The most evident one concerns the carbon-like finish because it doesn’t quite fit right and its cut is a little too high, so it overlaps over the the zinc alloy body. It must be said that this product version is not a definitive one (in the package, for example, there is no additional 1.2 ohm coil and the 10 ml bottle for the refill) and therefore it can be hoped that in the official model this problem has been solved. If you exclude this small burr, the Target PM30 is, like its older sisters, a slender mod with elegant and modern lines. In the same way the quality of the materials also looks more than good and the mod in the hands gives a sense of good constructive solidity.
FEATURES
This device measures 117.1 x 26.7 x 22 mm and has a weight of about 97 grams, optimal in my opinion for its volume. The device is powered by an integrated 1200 mAh battery with a USB type-C charging port which, even if limited to 1 ampere, allows you to complete a charging cycle in just about 1 hour.
The pod of the Target PM30 (capacity of 3.5 ml in the standard version and 2 ml in the TPD version) uses, as seen from the contents of the package, the replaceable GTX coils series, maintaining in fact total uniformity for all devices of the Target line.
The pod houses on the mod thanks to three magnets that prevent any type of annoying movement. The integrated cylindrical drip tip has an exit hole with a diameter of 5.2 mm, making it ideal for use in flavor chasing or MTL, even if the device unfortunately does not have an airflow control system that would have benefited not a little to the economy of the vaping.
With just a single fire button this pod mod simply has two functions of use:
- five close clicks to turn on/off;
- three clicks to select the vaping power (red led = minimum power, blue led = medium power, green led = maximum power).
In terms of watts, the delivery powers depend on the value of the coil inside the pod. Below are the values indicated by the manufacturer for the two types of coil in the package:
- GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil – 20 watts (red), 22 watts (blue), 25 watts (green);
- GTX 1.2 ohm Regular coil – 8 watts (red), 10 watts (blue), 12 watts (green).
It is clear that the Target PM30 is designed for newbies users that are going to start vaping, and the vaper basically has only to “worry” about pressing a button to produce vapor.
COILING, WICKING AND FILLING
To replace the GTX coils into the pod you have simply to pressure (plug & play system) them with the only foresight to align the two cleats on the coil with the two smaller magnets of the cartridge. Unlike what is seen with the two previous versions of Target PM80, the e-liquid refill here is done from top by sliding, in the direction indicated by the arrow, the upper part of the pod. It is the same system observed on a 2019 Vaporesso pod mod, the Podstick. After sliding the pod, you have to press strong your e-liquid bottle on the valve to open it; this is a system designed to guarantee a refill without any kin of leakage.
It’s important to use a bottle with a thin and resistant tip or better the Vaporesso bottle provided in the package. The semi-transparency of the pod should allow you to easily check the liquid filling level, but unfortunately this does not happen, because the pod is really too dark to allow easy “reading” the e-liquid level. It is to be hoped that soon Vaporesso will also opt for the Target PM30 for a “transparent” solution as already done with the two PM80 models.
PERFORMANCES AND FLAVOUR
The 1200 mAh battery guarantees good autonomy in vaping which settles approximately 4 ml of liquid with the 0.6 ohm coil and 6-7 ml with the 1.2 ohm coil. In previous reviews of the Target PM80 and PM80 SE, I have already had the opportunity to talk to you about the behavior of the different types of GTX coils made by Vaporesso. Three types of coil can be used for the Target PM30: in addition to the two present in the package (GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil and GTX 1.2 Regular coil), the GTX 0.8 Mesh coil can also be used.
With the GTX 0.6 ohm Mesh coil you have a typical flavor chasing vape with good results. The draw is perfectly calibrated, very fluid and quite silent. The GTX 0.6 coil offers a good aromatic yield even though I had the feeling that this coil performed much better with the Target PM80.
With the GTX 1.2 Regular coil, although the range of vaping is very low (8-12 watts), I had the sensation of vaping at higher powers than those declared, with a fairly pronounced hit in the throat also by virtue of a fairly airy MTL draw. As a lover of MTL vape, however, I tell you that the feeling is that of being in a limbo between the MTL and the DL. Ah if only there had been an airflow control system…
The performance of this coil did not satisfy me completely, as the aromatic range of the tested e-liquids often appeared incomplete. The older sisters of the Target PM30 offer certainly better performances even if it is right to say that for a novice user it will be difficult to notice these differences in performance.
TO CONCLUDE
The smallest of the three Target Vaporesso sisters, the PM30, while maintaining a high quality standard, in my opinion cannot match the Target PM80 and PM80 SE performances, but for the public to which it is intended, this mod is to be considered a system to start a satisfactory vaping.
